SenseZero and Woori E&C Sign MOU to Advance Gas Safety Platform Integration

Industrial safety and healthcare AI platform company SenseZero Co., Ltd. (CEO: Do Yang-su) has partnered with gas safety technology specialist Woori E&C Co., Ltd. (CEO: Lee Yeon-jin) to strengthen gas hazard response capabilities at industrial worksites. The two companies announced the signing of a joint business MOU for the "integration of portable gas detectors with the SenseZero monitoring platform" on May 28, 2026.
This agreement goes beyond a simple equipment supply relationship — its significance lies in the fact that it is a technology-fusion joint venture that combines Woori E&C's gas detection and confined-space safety management expertise with SenseZero's wearable, BLE beacon, and monitoring platform capabilities into a single, seamless data pipeline.
Why "Gas Detection" and "Platform" Together?
Manufacturing plants, construction sites, chemical handling facilities, and confined spaces such as manholes, septic tanks, and storage tanks represent some of the most lethal hazard sources found at industrial worksites. Confined-space suffocation accidents, in particular, occur infrequently but carry a very high probability of fatality when they do occur — and it is not uncommon for colleagues who enter to assist to become secondary casualties. Because oxygen deficiency and toxic gases such as hydrogen sulfide and carbon monoxide are invisible and difficult to detect by smell, workers are often already in a critical state by the time they perceive the danger.
Worksites have historically relied on portable gas detectors to measure concentrations, but those readings typically stay on the instrument's screen — they are rarely transmitted to managers in real time or accumulated as data. Even when a hazard is detected, it is difficult for a manager to be notified immediately; there is no record of what action was taken, by whom, or when. Since the enforcement of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act has made the "execution and documentation of safety measures" a core corporate obligation, the need for a data-driven safety management system to fill this gap has grown even more acute.
"From Detection to Prediction": Data-Centric Safety Management
The heart of this collaboration is real-time integration of hazardous gas concentrations measured by portable gas detectors — along with worker status and work-area information — into the SenseZero monitoring platform. This completes an unbroken, data-centric safety management process: hazard detection → worker and manager alert → on-site verification → corrective action history saved → data accumulation → AI-based risk prediction.
For example: when gas concentration in a confined space exceeds the threshold, the signal is instantly transmitted simultaneously to the wearable devices of workers on-site and to the manager's dashboard. The manager can see at a glance which zone has detected which gas at what level, issue instructions for evacuation, ventilation, or work suspension, and have the details of those actions automatically recorded for use in post-incident reports and risk assessments. The accumulated data then feeds AI analysis, forming the basis for predicting hazard patterns that recur in specific zones, time periods, and work types.
Scope of Collaboration and Role Division
The key technical scope defined in the MOU is as follows:
- Gas detection data integration — Real-time collection of portable gas detector measurements into the SenseZero platform
- Manager dashboard display — Visualization of gas concentration by work zone and worker status on a unified screen
- Hazard-level alerts — Immediate warning sent to workers and managers when concentrations exceed threshold limits
- Corrective action record management — Documentation and retention of the full process from hazard recognition to action completion
- TBM and risk assessment data linkage — Integration of real-measured data into pre-work safety briefings (TBM) and risk assessments
Role division is clearly defined. Woori E&C is responsible for the supply and technical support of gas detection equipment; SenseZero handles platform and data integration and monitoring dashboard operations. Each company focuses on its own area of expertise while collaborating closely at the data interface.

Areas of Application
The integrated safety management model built through this collaboration can be applied across a wide range of worksites where gas hazards are a constant concern. Priority targets include manufacturing plants and process facilities, construction sites, confined-space workplaces such as manholes, tanks, and septic tanks, and facilities handling hazardous chemicals. The companies plan to develop industry-specific customized models with adapted detection parameters, alert thresholds, and dashboard configurations on a phased basis.
"From Reactive Response to Proactive Prevention"
SenseZero CEO Do Yang-su stated: "The essence of safety management is building a proactive system that rapidly detects hazard signals and tracks whether corrective actions are actually taken. This MOU enables us to turn gas data that was previously trapped inside individual instruments into a shared safety asset for the entire worksite."
Woori E&C CEO Lee Yeon-jin said: "No matter how precise the gas detection technology, it cannot prevent an accident if the information is not delivered in time. We will combine both companies' expertise and technical capabilities to raise the real-world safety level at industrial sites."
SenseZero Chief Technology Officer Joo Min-soo added: "We are focused on advancing the technical architecture to efficiently integrate safety data from different devices and systems and to transmit hazard situations without delay. Tying heterogeneous data into a single standardized flow is the role of a platform company."
Next Steps
The two companies will now move forward to finalize the integration approach for gas safety management technology and the SenseZero platform, and will begin full-scale field proof-of-concept (PoC) activities and joint business proposals. They will then develop industry-specific safety management models and progressively expand the scope of application. Plans also include joint proposals to existing clients, participation in demonstration projects and smart safety equipment support programs, and collaboration on public-sector market entry to maximize synergies.
